Quick Tip for… The Pantry

I have a love/hate relationship with those plastic coated wire shelves that you can get for cheap or not so cheap, depending on where you shop. The nice thing about them is that they are open and let light (and crumbs or dust) through. But the bad thing about them is that they also sometimes let your food packages through!

To keep gravy and seasoning packets and other small items from falling through your shelves, purchase some small baskets that are roughly the same depth as your shelves. Then you can use those to hold smaller items together.

Individually wrapped snacks, such as granola bars or fruit snacks are easier to grab from an open basket than a box, plus you can quickly see when you’re running out. Empty (or near empty) boxes just take up valuable space.
